Abby Dow 'comfortable in hospital and will undergo surgery'

England Women wing Abby Dow will undergo surgery after suffering a broken leg in the Red Roses’ 58-5 win against Wales at Kingsholm.

Dow went down in the early stages of the game and after a lengthy delay was carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

England went on to score 10 tries and extend their unbeaten run in the TikTok Women’s Six Nations, posting a third successive bonus-point win to sit top of the table.

A statement from England Rugby said: “Abby Dow suffered a broken leg in England’s TikTok Women’s Six Nations match against Wales yesterday.

“She is comfortable in hospital and will undergo surgery.

“Everyone at England Rugby sends their best wishes to Abby and wishes her a full and speedy recovery.

“On behalf of Abby, we’d like to thank England supporters and the wider rugby family for the messages of support we have received following Saturday’s match.”

Unfortunately his name is marred with that incident with Tupaea many years ago and now that he’s been back for a while plus also has got back into the All Blacks, perhaps he should be given a clean slate. I found his Super Rugby form strong last year and I think he should’ve played more for the Wallabies last year.

Someone would have to have an absolute mare - but even then, the English bench is stacked.

I dont think they will TBH. Scotland fans ought to be careful what they wish for in that regard. Who would be his replacement? Can they get a quality coach in there to replace him? I think SRU will stick with him until RWC. Why? Because nothing has changed since RWC 23. If they weren’t willing to make a change then, which is when they should have in my opinion, why would they do it now 18 months out from another tournament. There are strong calls to replace him from fans, but fans have an overinflated view of what Scotland can realistically achieve. I dont think the SRU see it the same way.

Swain should have been a regular lock for the Wallabies. The incident with the pommie lowlife should not have stopped him. We have managed again to miss out on the development of a good lock, similar to what happened with Skelton.

Many rugby supporters act as if the game should be played without any aggression.
