Stade Niçois RFC
Stade Niçois, is a French rugby union team based in Nice, France, that competes in the Pro D2, France’s second professional division.
The club was originally founded in 1912 and was known as Racing Rugby Club de Nice. From 2001 to 2012, the team was known as Rugby Nice Côte d’Azur Université-Racing. However in 2012, the club was liquidated. Ahead of the 2012-13 season, they formed Stade Niçois. Ever since, they’ve played in red, white and black.
The club’s first success came in 1974, when they won the Challenge de l'Esperance. They then won the competition again two years later. Following this, they made it to the final of the French Championship in 1983. However, they were defeated by AS Béziers.
At the end of the 2017-18 season, Nice were promoted from the Fédérale 2 and played in the Fédérale 1 for the 2018-19 season. In the 2023-24 season they were promoted from the Championnat Fédéral Nationale to the Pro D2.
Despite some setbacks, the club has had some notable success and now in the Pro D2, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Nice rugby team in the coming years.
