  • Freddie Steward Bio

Born 5 December 2000, Freddie Steward started his rugby-playing career at Swaffham RFC, before moving to Holt RFC when his age group folded. During his junior career, he changed positions regularly. He started as a fly-half, before moving to inside centre during his time at Norwich School. He ultimately settled at fullback at the age of 16.

Steward came through the Leicester Tigers Academy and made his debut for the first team in January 2019. He’s since made more than 100 appearances for Leicester Tigers and he memorably helped the team claim the Premiership Rugby title in 2022.

Thanks to his high-class performances for Leicester, Steward made his debut for England in 2021. Only a year later, in 2022, he was voted in World Rugby’s team of the year at fullback. In 2023, he represented his country at the Rugby World Cup

Since 2023, Freddie Steward has found England starts harder to come by. However, he’s undoubtedly still an elite operator and one of the finest fullbacks in the modern game. Still young and with his best years ahead of him, we can’t wait to see how his game develops in the years to come.
