Agathe Sochat Bio

Agathe Sochat is a hooker who plays for both Stade Bordelais and France women’s rugby union team. She made her international debut in 2016 and has previously represented Montpellier Hérault Sport Club Féminines.

Born on 21 May 1995, Sochat began playing rugby at the age of four. Her parents supported her talents and encouraged her to continue training whilst she studied in Bordeaux and Montpellier. She subsequently qualified as an occupational therapist.

Sochat’s club career started at Stade Bordelais in 2013. She remained there until 2016, then transferred to Montpellier Hérault. Here she won three back-to-back Élite 1 National Championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2021, she made the decision to return to Stade Bordelais.

Her international career, which has followed the same impressive trajectory as her club career, started in 2016 when she played in her first Six Nations Championship. In 2018, she won her first Championship after establishing herself as a key figure at the tournament, crossing the try line three times.

In 2021, Sochat was named in the World Rugby Women’s 15s Dream Team of the Year. Then, in 2022, Sochat represented France at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup. She travelled to New Zealand and contested five fixtures, including all three of France’s knockout-stage matches.

As a passionate and dedicated player, we're eager to see how the rest of Agathe Sochat's career unfolds.
