'We’re not satisfied': Bydwell names unchanged Eagles squad for New York
After claiming third-place in Vancouver, USA Women’s Eagles Sevens head coach Emilie Bydwell has named an unchanged squad for the team’s home HSBC SVNS Series leg in New York.
At Sports Illustrated Stadium this weekend, the Eagles have been named in Pool B with Canada, Australia and Japan.
Thanks to their podium finish in Vancouver the Eagles are third in the overall standings and will be hoping to make the most of home advantage this weekend on the east coast.
There is even a return home for Su Adegoke, who scored a hat-trick against Canada in the team’s opening game at BC Place.
Kaylen Thomas, Sammy Sullivan and Ariana Ramsey also enjoyed dominant tournaments in British Columbia.
Despite claiming bronze last weekend, Bydwell is still looking for more from her team in the final tournament ahead of the HSBC SVNS World Championship events between April and June.
“As a team, we came and accomplished what we wanted in Vancouver,” Bydwell said. “But we’re not satisfied either. We know, we can level up, and find another gear.
“We can play better than we played this weekend, but will take the learnings that we had across the weekend, and put those learnings into action next weekend at home.
“We know we’ve got a job to do and we’re targeting a podium at home. Once we land, we’ll focus on recovering and reflecting on this weekend and making sure that we level up the gears one game at a time.”
