A stop has finally been put to the latest winning Leinster gallop in the Guinness PRO14, their next match away to Scarlets next Sunday getting postponed.

The three-in-a-row champions had been on fire so far in the 2020/21 season, winning all seven matches and scoring 40 tries, a massive number compared to the meagre eleven Scarlets managed in their seven outings.

Having already won away at Benetton, Glasgow and Ospreys, a return to Wales was next on the Leinster hit list but that away day will now have to wait following a statement released on Thursday evening by the PRO14.

It read: “The round eight Guinness PRO14 fixture between Scarlets and Leinster has been postponed.

“The game was due to take place on Sunday, November 29, in Llanelli. However, a small number of Scarlets players have returned positive cases of Covid-19 and others identified as close contacts are now isolating.

“Having considered all of the available evidence, the PRO14 medical advisory group has deemed that this fixture cannot go ahead as scheduled. PRO14 Rugby will examine potential dates in early 2021 to reschedule the game.

“Ulster, who played against Scarlets on Sunday, carried out routine squad testing on Thursday and will receive their results in the next 24 hours.”
