The Exeter Chiefs loosehead prop, who was born and raised in Ontario, has taken part in Scotland and Canada training camps but is uncapped by either nation.

Swann joined Chiefs from Worcester Warriors after the West Midland club’s demise in the 2023/24 season. She represented Glasgow Warriors in the 2024 Celtic Challenge.

Steve Salvin, Exeter Chiefs head coach, said: “Demi has worked incredibly hard for international recognition, and it is great that Scotland have now given her that opportunity. We hope this is the start of a journey to playing regularly in an international shirt.”

So far this season Swann has appeared in 12 Premiership Women’s Rugby matches for Exeter, who entered the international break third in the overall standings.

Her journey to rugby has been far from ordinary after she took the sport up after she had competed as a wrestler.

Scotland begin life under their new head coach, Sione Fukofuka, against Wales at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Saturday 11 April.

They will then host England at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. Already the fixture is due to be the best-attended standalone women’s sporting fixture in Scottish history with over 19,000 tickets sold.
