Edinburgh have confirmed that forwards coach Stevie Lawrie has penned a new two-year contract, becoming the first name confirmed as the club begins to unveil its coaching group for the 2026/27 season.

Lawrie’s renewal comes as Edinburgh prepare to announce further coaching appointments this week. Brave Blossoms attack coach had Dan Bowden had also been linked with a role in the capital.

A product of the city, Lawrie has been part of Edinburgh’s coaching staff since 2019, initially joining as assistant forwards coach before being promoted to the senior role in 2021.

He was appointed Scotland ‘A’ forwards coach in 2024, a role he has continued into the current season.

“I’m excited to be a part of this club moving forward and developing this talented group of players whilst contributing to a successful Edinburgh Rugby,” Lawrie said.

“The ambition at this club is clear and I’m determined to play my part in making sure we deliver on that.”

Head coach Sean Everitt highlighted Lawrie’s connection to the club and his impact on the playing group.

“Stevie is an Edinburgh man through and through – he understands this club, he understands what it means to the city,” Everitt said. “That connection runs deep with our players and our supporters.

“What Stevie has done with our forward pack has been brilliant and his recognition at international level with Scotland A is thoroughly deserved.”

Everitt added that Lawrie would play a central role in a refreshed coaching ticket.

“Alongside the incoming coaches, I believe we have a coaching group with real quality, real experience and real ambition,” he said.

Edinburgh managing director Douglas Struth said retaining Lawrie had been a priority.

“Stevie is a hugely important figure at this club – not just for what he delivers on the training pitch, but for what he represents,” Struth said.

“His experience, expertise and commitment sit at the heart of what we are trying to build, and he will be central to driving the standards and culture we want going forward.”
