Saracens flanker Jackson Wray retiring at end of season

Saracens’ long-serving flanker Jackson Wray will retire from rugby at the end of the season.

Wray, 32, is only the fifth player to make over 300 appearances for a club he first joined as a teenager. He has won four Gallagher Premiership and three Heineken Champions Cup titles.

“After 15 years at this fantastic club, it is the right time for me to retire from rugby and pursue interests that I have been building towards during my career,” Wray said.

Except the team has a manager, so maybe Razor should have applied for that job instead. The NZR basically hired Scott Hansen as the coach, and I’m not even sure they’re any the wiser as to who he actually is than anyone else.

All Razor seems to actually do is sit around dreaming up cringe-worthy ‘themes’ that don’t help once the team is on the field and falling asleep for half the game.

Etsebeth deserves ( deserved a harsher penalty in my opinion) what he got but cannot agree with your comment. Nobody would have said part of the game. The size and age of player irrelevant. Must go and play paddle if not up to it. Furthermore only mothers in N Hemisphere may support your view.

I worry about an incident like this affecting parents allowing their children to play rugby. EE’s (large) hand was clearly looking for a claw like grip on the face of a much smaller, younger opponent. The days when that was “just part of the game and we'll share a pint afterwards” are long gone. 12 weeks seems light punishment.

SA’s depth is so much greater than that of Wales that the difference in quality between SA A and Wales A is not as great as the difference between SA B and Wales B.

This is the difference of the Boks and the ABs (and perhaps AUS) with the other major rugby nations where international players have to pull a lot of energy into their clubs for most of the year even if they would like to spend more time and energy with their national teams.

When we look at this problem in perspective, bringing players from other countries has never being a solution, I rather say is the begining of a problem no matter what you can fix in the short term. My country, Argentina who now are going threw good results had to go threw a very difficult period in results a had to learn the hard way that took a long and difficult path to get here. I think some top rugby nations will have to have patience, go back to the basics and start again, is the long road but the safest.
