With respect Tom:

1. “The Boks have always had a reputation as a violent team.” Incorrect, the Boks have always been a physical team, not the same thing at all. The rest is perception amongst some rugby fans, definitely not those who look at facts. Once you look at facts you will realise you’re wrong. And don’t try to use a few insidents to indicate that those examples prove your point, I can show you plenty examples from all teams. Tell me your nationality and I’ll assemble the examples. Perception is a terrible thing - amongst other drivel I’ve been reading for years how the Boks are giants and much bigger and taller than other top rugby nations. Please do what I did at the WC, I compared the easily available facts and the Boks were not nearly the biggest tier 1 team, regardless whether you compare only 1 to 3, 1 to 5, 1 to 8 or whatever.

I do remember him - quick and scored a fair number of tries. Will is dual qualified and probably won’t have to make a final call on his representative future for a while yet, but clearly the direction of travel in his case doesn’t seem encouraging for Wales. Can’t blame him at all. Welsh rugby needs to get its house in order.

When the big lad pulls an opposition player towards him and tries to force his eye up into his skull, that isn’t considered intentional?

Exactly that. Any young player of international standing is not going to choose the basket case that is the WRU (Worst Run Union). What hurts on this one is that his dad is a former captain of Wales, while his uncle (Alun Harries) was a Welsh junior sprint champion. You may remember him on the wing for Swansea.

That’s a bit ominous. You’d hope from a Welsh perspective he would decide to commit to Wales when definitive push comes to shove a few years down the line, because he’s a big prospect at outside centre, and it’s not as if England need more players, is it? Sadly, the turmoil engulfing Welsh rugby is not exactly a plus for any young player, with the ill-advised plan to do away with one region, and one of the historically successful west Wales regions at that.

None of the SA franchises is fairing well in the Champions Cup for the very simple reason that the Boks priority is the national team and not the clubs. They tend to rest and relax outside of the international window.

The potential route to the Rugby World Cup final for the top 6 teams

We need two upsets in the group stages to balance out the draw somewhat. Firstly, Australia should use their home ground advantage and catch the All Blacks cold and secondly I’d like to see Scotland can pip Ireland to top their group. Neither of these are out of the realm of possibility.

If this happens, likely matchups would then see RSA vs Aus, Eng vs NZ, Arg vs Sco, France vs Ireland and Fiji vs Wales. These would all be fairly balanced matchups (if you give Aus a boost for home ground advantage), with the first 3 happening in the Quarter-Finals and the latter 2 in the round of 16.

Well the ban is only 22 weeks. Any smart-ass answers now? The full story is not revealed and if that doesn’t tell you something then you’re on your own. No player gets 12 weeks only unless there were mitigating circumstances. And yes, the North are a bit of pansies. The laws are forever being changed just so ya’ll can have a chance at winning this thing because clearly, rugby may have been invented there, but the best ever teams don’t come from there.

Then what the hell are we talking about? If he wasn't carded, how can you convince people that he was a dirty player? You sound stupid. Eben got 12 weeks, in the past, eye gouging was 6 months or more. Why has is sentence so short considering the the incident?

It comes down to what I said before, what happened that made him act that way? We are not taught to be pussies in South Africa, if someone does something crazy to you, you are going to do it back. Now you guys up north might have a difference in opinion, that’s fine but what you consider good sportsmanship might not be what I consider good sportsmanship, that’s just a cultural thing because there are no written laws for that.
