Nine uncapped players in Italy's Women's Six Nations squad

Italy head coach Fabio Roselli has named his squad for the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations. The squad includes an infusion of new talent, with nine uncapped players in the 34 player group.

Midfield mainstay Michela Sillari currently sits on 94 caps, and is on track to become just the second Italian woman to reach the 100-cap milestone at some point in 2026. Veteran Elisa Giordano sits on 78 caps, and has been named as captain once again for the 2026 Championship. Her leadership will be vital in navigating a fresh squad that features 14 players with ten caps or less.

A Guinness Women’s Six Nations’ press release argues that due to a third of the squad playing their club rugby in some of the most competitive leagues in the world such as France’s Elite 1 or England’s PWR, and a significant contingent from the dominant Valsugana Rugby Padova side in the Italian top flight, the Azzurre may be capable of upsetting the traditional hierarchy of the competition after finishing second bottom behind Wales last season.

Italy open their Six Nations campaign away to France at the Stade des Alpes, Grenoble, on Saturday 11th April.
