Mark Dodson has announced that he will step down from his position as chief executive of Scottish Rugby in the summer of 2024, bringing to an end a near-13-year reign.

Everything they are doing makes sense atm.

I think there is a real chance they will employ Henry P as a sub winger in this game if one of the back three has to go off. I don’t think either of the SCot wings wd fancy their chances against him!

I do recall big Billy V being exceptionally durable under Eddie, so he played most of the games at 8.

It shd make a diff in the Prem, tho I don’t think Christ Tshiunza is a first choice t Exe anymore… Tom Hooper is basically better at everything a 5/6 is expected to do! So Tshiunz is only there for depth.

It is rather JIFFY rule isn’t it?

Rob Baxter admits Christ Tshiunza 'rumours could be entirely true'

He is a player of massive potential. Hope he gets injury free and fit but that is only part of the problem. His attitude needs to improve because when he has had opportunities, he hasn’t shown anything of that potential. He genuinely could be a world class second row or blindside flanker. He has it all but something is blocking that progress. He is bigger and more athletic than Itoje this age but that’s where any comparison ends. Whereas Itoje has grown up and embraced his possibilities, Christ is still treading water. He would be a massive player for Wales and for any region he will end up at and I hope it is a Welsh region and somebody there can mentor him properly. There is still time as he is only 24 but he can;t let it drag on another couple of seasons. Good luck to him!!

I think you should have a look at Madigan’s in depth analysis of exactly how the disparity in styles between Ireland and Leinster affected the Irish defense.

I actually think Farrell made an error in blaming the players. You can only point the finger at them a few times before it returns to yourself.

The hybrid player situation is an interesting one, after previous articles with Ben Earl suggesting he couldn’t play centre and then he is played there again against Wales, was that Earl trying to just put people off the scent, when he knows Borthwick’s plan includes him getting game time there?

The other one i’d like to see is Ollie Lawrence being an option for 12/13 and no 8. His explosive power off the bench at 8 as an option the other way could be very effective, I know he’d have to work on bits of his game for that to be possible, but it is doable and he’s got a good power game. Be interested to hear other people’s thoughts, or other player suggestions?

Very strong team, excited to see how the young centres go.

Particularly Gailleton actually because his story with the national team has not been easy. Even in November he thought he should’ve played against South Africa but was released back to Pau. Then he came on against Fiji but then got injured/concussed so had to leave the field. Gourgues comes in against Australia, does brilliantly and so he seems even lower on the pecking order.

Tshiunza is a good player, and his versatility has been an asset to the Chiefs. However, he has been extremely injury prone .. and has hardly played over the past couple of seasons. Wish him well .. but he’s replaceable.

I’ve just seen the comments from Rob Baxter and I hadn’t realised Premiership Rugby had brought in this rule regarding 15 EQP players averaging in the 23 throughout the season? I had missed that and assume it was part of the Professional Game Board Deal (with increased RFU funding).

He’s suggesting Tchunza is heading back to Cardiff, as they are struggling with the 15 EQP average and Tchunza is also under pressure to sign for a Welsh club at the end of his current deal.

He was always a strange pick for Eddie, was exactly the type of combative attitude that Eddie likes but was about 30KG lighter than his norm.

I still think we wasted Nathan Hughes - Eddie was insistent on this 130KG No 8 carrier, so he put on loads of weight for ENG and then didn’t fit the Pat Lam game plan at Bristol.
