Glasgow Warriors have retained the services of one of Scotland’s most promising young forwards, after Gregor Hiddleston extended his contract with the club until at least the summer of 2028.

The hooker made his Warriors debut in January 2024, away to Exeter Chiefs in the Champions Cup, and has really come to prominence this season.

Hiddleston tops the Warriors’ try-scoring charts with eight, including tries in successive victories over Sale Sharks, Toulouse – with what ultimately proved to be the winning try – and Edinburgh back in December.

The 23-year-old former Scotland U20 international was subsequently called up into the Scotland senior setup for the first time ahead of the 2026 Six Nations, featuring in Scotland A’s 24-24 draw with Italy XV at the start of February, and a first cap appears to be just around the corner for a player who plays like an additional back-rower.

In tandem with his solid set-piece game, Hiddleston is a brilliant ball carrier, tackles himself to a standstill in defence and is regularly near the top of the stats for turnovers won.

“I’m absolutely buzzing – I’m delighted to be staying,” Hiddleston told the club’s website.

“It’s a really exciting to be part of this club. I’ve learnt so much already and I’m loving being here. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

“I was learning a lot when I first came in, and I definitely feel like I’m still learning. You can see the experience that we’ve got here though and it’s showing week in, week out – we’re competing well and winning big games, and I just want to keep on progressing.

“We’re in a really good place at the moment. Being top of the league and unbeaten in Europe speaks for itself, but we know we can’t take our foot off the gas at all. We’ve got a big game against Benetton on Friday and then a massive last-16 tie with the Bulls next weekend, so we know we need to keep our standards high and keep putting in good performances.

“I just want to keep developing and keep moving forward – I want to keep being part of the big games and big wins with the boys here.”

Head coach Franco Smith added: “Gregor has worked hard on his own game and is committed to his own development, and we are pleased that he has renewed his contract with us.

“His impact in both attack and defence has been evident throughout this season, whilst also providing a solid set-piece platform for our team.

“He is keen to keep progressing as a Warrior and we know that he will give his all for this club every time he sets foot on the field.”
