The Hong Kong Scottish and the USRC Tigers face off in the first ever Rugby pass Game of the Week.

Hong Kong Scottish are looking to carry on a run of brilliant form in this weekend’s match against the bottom-placed Tigers.

The second-placed club enter the match on a win streak, while Tigers have lost their last three straight.

Despite that, Scottish coach Craig Hammond is not underestimating their opponents.

“We have been doing some really good stuff and we have been building, but Tigers are dangerous,” he said.

Kick-off is at 4.30pm on Saturday (Hong Kong time).

I agree, really made worse by two naive unions over selling it imo.

If both teams were at that “rematch” level still it would have been great, but there was zero chance it was going to be as good I’m afraid. They should have made it The Rematch of Chicago, rather than of WC23 which all the fanfair was about leading up with the hour doco etc. Let the fans build up their own excitement for what those two teams delivered. (silver lakes influence has been a big miss, I equate them to Amazon or the like flooding TV with shows for the masses, rather than classics).

I know Rassie will be planning a clean sweep this tournament particularly given the last team the two teams met in the November series, Boks lost. Rassie will be prepping for a massive showdown. However, if France lose, it is possible the French public might place their players and coaches under guillotine. They feel the vengeance strongly. However as much as Rassie will want to win this one his goal is 2027. Its not obviously a vengeance game but one which will be a feather in his cap. A two upmanship on Galthié.

Yeah I saw those names pop up. Will be very interesting to see how the matchups combat each other, of course ABXV have had their two best locks taken into the ABs and they hadn’t really brought a full allotment of those over as it was, so they’ve got one traditional six there along with a New Zealand type 6 (roaming) player. Tough Tough loosies though.

The backs matchup even more interesting with a departing All Black line up (3 test stars) against your youth and future? A lot less exciting on an individual level, only two I’m interested in seeing play in Preston and Tangitau.

Seems strange that a country like England is having this problem. New Zealand has long since been revered for its development systems, both in its layered approach and identification through both ages, careers, and those layers, or levels.

I suspect there has to be something more under what you have described too. NZR are simply trying provide a high quality of development, as in a sense it’s only kicked for half a year currently. These things are helped by representative footy being the lynchpin. So when a player hits the open grades there is already a network around their development and improvement, between club, province, and SR franchise.

If you look at the rugby the Springboks play why would your opinion of them be bad? Rather have a bad opinion about world rugby as they are the people running the show. The Springboks are knocked by every Nh supporter as not that good yet they keep on winning. Maybe that is because even if they get knocked down by Aus they get up and put a record score on Nz. It is called belief in what they are capable of. Japan beat them and they came back and won two world cups. Same with Nz who lost to France in 07 and came back to win two world cups. To cry unfair and “ knowing the outcome” is to admit defeat. Never retreat never surrender.

The French side has serious quality. This game is just being hyped up same as the Sa vs Nz games after the world cup all to create sensation and make money. Almost like a boxing match when this is nothing more than two very good teams going at it. France is my second team after the Springboks so I for one am happy to see a strong French side for a change.

The problem with what you said is that they actually are good but sabotage themself with winning the game in their head instead of on the field. SH players are not bigger stronger or smarter than NH players. Why should Bok supporters stay humble? It is a game of rugby and nothing more. Just a game. You win you brag you lose they brag. Afterwards everyone moans about the ref together and life goes on. How stupid is it to get personal with insults or take offence over a rugby game? Death threats to the ref?? Disliking a nation because you lose a game of rugby and worst of all having to be “kind” and “humble” instead of doing a Braveheart moon when you win all in the name of false modisty and to show what good “ human beings” we are. The players actually playing the game are the one’s who should stay humble in victory and for the most part they do. Teams like the Springboks and the All Blacks will always have a target on their back because of what they have achieved in the sport.
