24-year-old winger Daniel Sinkinson will return to the starting lineup for the first time this season for the Hurricanes against the Reds in Brisbane, while Devan Flanders also makes an appearance after a long time on the sideline.

Sinkinson has been named in the No.14 jersey for the weekend, with Bailyn Sullivan on the bench after leaving the field last weekend against the Highlanders with a concussion.

Tyrel Lomax starts in the No.3 jersey, and Hurricanes co-captain DuPlessis Kirifi returns to the starting lineup after being on the bench last weekend.

Kirifi’s elevation to the starting lineup comes after the Hurricanes confirmed on Wednesday that star loose forward Braydon Iose will miss the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season with a lower leg injury.

Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw knows that this weekend will be a tough matchup for his side.

“We were pleased to come away from last week with the win in a tough game against the Highlanders, who obviously pushed us right to the end,” Laidlaw said.

“The composure we showed in that last play. To go 22 phases and score a try was really encouraging, but we feel & know that we need to play much better this week away against the Reds in Brisbane, who are super strong at home and have a lot to play for around the top four.

Great to see Devon Flanders return to Hurricane and the All Black selection picture.

Flanders was outstanding in both his starts at 8 for the AB XVs against Munster and Georgia. Cannot see him getting selected at 8 for All Blacks but he has the height and weight to play blindside and has the physicality required of a blindside.
