Fijian Drua snap up Crusaders and former All Black assistant Brad Mooar

Former All Blacks and Crusaders assistant Brad Mooar has put pen to paper with the Fijian Drua, becoming their head coach for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season.

The Crusaders assistant has signed a two-year deal with the Fijian Super Rugby Pacific franchise, leaving his role with the Canterbury-based franchise after six seasons as part of the coaching staff.

Mooar has played a part in four Super Rugby titles during his coaching stint, after two years with the All Blacks under Ian Foster in the 2020-2022 period.

“I’ve loved being part of this club and working alongside such great people. Thank you to everyone who has supported me during my time here,” Mooar said in a Crusaders media release.

“The relationships I’ve built here won’t change, and I look forward to watching the Crusaders continue to thrive while staying connected to the club in the years ahead.”

Crusaders CEO Colin Mansbridge thanked Mooar for his work over the last few years, and wished him luck ahead of his new journey with the Fijian Drua.

“During his time with us, we have benefited not only from Brad’s sharp sense of humour and positive presence, but also from his analytical, thoughtful and astute rugby mind,” Mansbridge said.

“On behalf of everyone at the Crusaders, I would like to sincerely thank Brad for his contribution and wish him, his family and the Drua every success for the future. We look forward to staying connected and following the next chapter of his coaching journey.”

“Mooar will remain with the Crusaders in the coming weeks as transition plans are worked through and responsibilities are handed over ahead of his departure,” the Crusaders said.
