The hulking Rory Pitman (6’5, 128kg) was announced this afternoon on a short-term contract.

The Welshman’s last club was Cardiff RFC, where he has made nine appearances this season, scoring one try.

The giant back row has also featured for Jersey Reds, Scarlets, Wasps, Ospreys and Rotherham Titans in his career.

Rory made an impressive 26 appearances for the Scarlets in his debut season for the Welsh Pro14 side in 2014.

Director of Rugby Clive Griffiths was pleased to sign some much-needed depth to the back row. “Rory is a very experienced professional who has been putting in eye catching performances for Cardiff RFC this season.

He has accepted a short-term contract and is determined to make this into a longer term one!

“With Josh Tyrrel, Sam Jones and Tom Hicks currently unavailable we are in need of some reinforcements to bolster our second row and back row units. Having played at both Premiership and Pro 14 level, Rory fits the bill and we hope that his no nonsense approach and ball carrying skills will add to our team.

“It is always good to see someone back themselves and give it their best shot as Rory has done. I am delighted to have him on board.”
