Daisies go five for five with big WSL 1 win

Things are really starting to take shape in the Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1 after the fifth round of the season.

The Bulls Daisies continued their perfect start to the season with a 71-5 win against the EP Queens in Pretoria.

Faith Tshauke scored a hat-trick at Loftus Versfeld as the Daisies registered 11 tries in the contest. In the second half, the Pretoria side scored 40 unanswered points.

Thobila Msizazwe scored a brace for a second weekend in a row while Chuma Qawe, Camelitha Malone, Robyn Strydom, Jakkie Cilliers and Naima Hlatshwayo were also try scorers.

A late flurry from the Boland Dames handed them a 40-12 win over the Golden Lions Women.

The Lions can be pleased with their efforts after a quick start which saw Hlobisile Mbatha dot down in the opening exchanges.

At the break the scoreboard read 12-12 with both teams well in the contest.

It was only in the final 10 minutes that the Dames secured a victory as tries for Aseza Hele, Rocha Madyah, Veroeshka Grain and Rufaro Tagarira did the damage.

A second half comeback against the Free State Women allowed Western Province to register their fourth win of the season.

With their only loss coming against the Bulls, the Cape Town side are places second in the eight team competition.

Owami Mohuli and Kamohelo Makoele’s scores handed Free State the lead at the halfway stage.

Shortly after the second half got underway Babalwa Latsha, Voice Ndou and Logan Welman dotted down to hand Jongi Nokwe’s team a 38-21 victory in Bloemfontein.

In the final contest of the weekend Sharks Women picked up a convincing 29-0 victory over Border Ladies.

It was the Sharks’ second win of the season and their most convincing so far. Lindelwa Gwala and Cebisa Gumede both got braces and Nontobeko Mathupha also crossed the whitewash in the Eastern Cape clash.
