Coaching clearout continues at Connacht
Connacht have confirmed that defence coach Scott Fardy will leave the club at the end of the season as part of a major overhaul of the coaching staff.
Pete Wilkins left his role as head coach last month and has landed a job with Benetton, while attack coach Mark Sexton, who is also moving on, is joining Ulster.
Former Wallaby flanker Fardy has spent the last two seasons with the Galway-based team, who are third from bottom in the URC standings.
Fardy enjoyed a glittering playing career worldwide, including four seasons at Leinster, five years at Super Rugby side the Brumbies, and three years at Kamaishi Seawaves in Japan. His accolades include four Guinness PRO14 titles and a Heineken Champions Cup with Leinster, where he was also named in the PRO14 Dream Team for three consecutive seasons.
The 39-times capped player moved straight into coaching in 2021, firstly gaining experience in Japan with NEC Green Rockets, before moving back to Australia to work with his former Shute Shield club Warringah. He then joined Connacht ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Connacht said in a statement:”Everyone at Connacht would like to thank him for all his contributions in his 2 years with us, and we wish him and his family every happiness in the future.
“The club will provide a further update on next season’s coaching team over the coming weeks.”
