Blues lose captain for South Africa tour

Fairfax have reported that Blues captain Augustine Pulu will miss his side’s two-game tour of South Africa.

The 28-year-old halfback suffered a foot injury during the Blues’ 27-21 loss at the hands of the Chiefs on Friday.

21-year-old Sam Nock will share halfback duties with Jonathan Ruru as the Blues travel to South Africa to take on the Lions and the Stormers.

Two-cap All Black Pulu is in his second season with the Blues, and his first season as captain.

Fortunately for the Blues, Sonny Bill Williams is set to make his return after missing the Chiefs clash with a knee injury.

Does look like it doesn’t it, do you have a reliable place to get stats on this Nick?

From what I can find here, ARG vs ENG had 78 😲 kicks in play, only 26 of those went into touch. Of the 52 infield kicks I’m guessing at least 30 and maybe as many as 40 of those were high kicks?

It was fantastic wasn’t it! But I agree, the 6N has had by far the better atmosphere and tension whereas the TRC has generally had the better rugby. But this years TRC had a lot of jeopardy and the 6N teams have come on leaps and bounds since 2015, both comps really are great.

I just hope next years 6N (and by extension the rest of the WC cycle) isn’t penned in by the new laws making high balls so beneficial percentage wise that most teams adopt similar tactics. Test rugby has been so fun recently because of the clash of styles

Bouza explained it very clearly the challenge Spain and other tier 2 conutries face. He used the word level. They will play teams in 2026 on their level, not higher. Some of their Top 14 players will compete at a high level in the Champions Cup, they and other tier 2 nations need to raise their levels consideribly. To be competitive at WC.

EE's retaliation was surely all that was intentional and not his attack on Mann's eye as such. If that had been his intention Mann would have been in a sorry state with clear evidence which has not been forthcoming. While retaliation was stupid and deserving of sanction there clearly was provocation and in the broader scheme of things the ban probably is excessive although a player of EE's experience should have known better.

England definitely have the potential to pull it off and their trajectory is looking solid! They should now concentrate on winning away from home regularly. Lets see how the 6Ns goes…should be a decent indicator and obviously that game against the Boks in mid 2026 too.
