Tahuriorangi is one of several candidates battling for a halfback spot in the All Blacks side.

The 23-year-old will attend the North Island Foundation Day, where he will mix with All Blacks from the Chiefs, Blues and Hurricanes for a day-long session in preparation for June’s three-test series against France.

Tahuriorangi moved north this year after two seasons with the Hurricanes, following his provincial coach with Taranaki – Colin Cooper – to the Hamilton-based Chiefs.

Who will be the All Blacks’ third halfback?

The former New Zealand U20 representative has impressed in a handful of starts this season, earning the starting nod in part because of injuries suffered by teammate and fellow All Blacks contender Brad Weber.

Other candidates for the third halfback spot include Blues skipper Augustine Pulu, and Crusaders pair Bryn Hall and Mitchell Drummond.
