Black Ferns prop's Pac Four over following training ground injury

It’s been confirmed that Black Ferns’ prop Awhina Tangen-Wainohu has been ruled out of the remaining Pacific Four Series following an injury suffered in training this week.

She aggravated a previous neck injury and but stay with the squad in America. It’s a blow for the former Hawke’s Bay front-rower, who has played ten Tests for the Black Ferns to date.

A NZR statement reads: “Black Ferns prop Awhina Tangen-Wainohu has been ruled out for the remainder of the Pacific Four Series following an aggravation of a previous neck injury sustained at Tuesday training.

“Tangen-Wainohu will remain with the team in Sacramento until Sunday (Monday NZT) and will return home to New Zealand for further assessment. An update on her replacement will be provided in the coming days.

“Maddison Robinson has been called into the match-day 23 and is in-line to make her Black Ferns debut v USA off the bench.”

The 28-year-old made her New Zealand debut during the O’Reilly Cup Test series against Australia.
