'Best is yet to come' for crocked Bath star Ciaran Donoghue
Versatile back Ciaran Donoghue has signed a new two-year deal with Bath.
It is a sign of how highly Bath rate the 23-year-old, who has missed all of the season to date after undergoing knee surgery in September and remains sidelined indefinitely.
A graduate of the club’s academy, Donoghue was the breakthrough star of Bath’s treble-winning campaign in 2024/25 and was set to play a big part in Bath’s title defence before getting crocked in a pre-season friendly against Munster.
Donoghue, who primarily plays fly-half or full-back, made his debut against Gloucester in November 2021 and has 21 appearances to his name for the Blue, Black and Whites.
On renewing with his boyhood club, Donoghue said: “I’m really excited to continue my journey and development here as a player and person.
“The support shown at The Rec and around the City is amazing and from a personal point of view I can’t wait to get back on the pitch to try and help the club deliver more success going forward.”
Putting pen to paper on a new deal, Donoghue will remain in Bath colours for a further two seasons.
Head of Rugby at Bath, Johann van Graan, said: “It gives us all great pleasure to know that Ciaran will be with us for the next two seasons. What a 2024/25 season Ciaran has had.
“We all have great memories of what he has done on and off the pitch. Most importantly, his best is yet to come.”
