Australia Sevens lock in another four stars through to 2028 LA Olympics

Four members of the Australia Women’s Sevens side have inked new deals with Rugby Australia through to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which follows the recent re-signing announcements of Maddison and Teagan Levi.

Faith Nathan, Heidi Dennis, Bienne Terita and Ruby Nicholas have re-committed to the national sevens program through to the Games. Australia are looking to win an Olympic medal in women’s rugby sevens for the first time since Rio in 2016.

Nathan is looking to become a three-time Olympian, having represented Team Australia in Tokyo and Paris. The 25-year-old was recognised as the team’s Player of the Year at the 2025 Rugby Australia Awards and recently notched up the 150-try milestone on the HSBC SVNS Series.

Dennis has been a breakout star for the powerhouse sevens side over the last two seasons, with the now 21-year-old receiving Player of the Final honours after the drought-breaking win over arch-rivals New Zealand in the 2025 SVNS Perth Cup Final.

The Aussie has touched down for 29 tries across two seasons in gold and played a pivotal role in the team’s run to the HSBC SVNS World Championship title this year. Dennis is chasing a maiden appearance at the Olympics.

Terita and Nicholas represented Australia on the world’s premier sevens circuit during the 2026 campaign. That marked a successful return from a long-term injury for Terita, who has also played for the Wallaroos in the Test arena.

“Faith is one of our greatest try-scorers, hardest-working and consistent players who brings winning experience having recently notched 40 caps,” Director of Women’s High Performance, Tim Walsh, said.

“Heidi has developed incredibly well in the past 18 months to become one of our most potent attacking weapons. She possesses speed, power, skill, and a physical presence.

“Bienne has shown tremendous resilience to get back from injury this year and the energetic Ruby is ever-reliable with more opportunities for her on the horizon.

“Overall we’re in a stronger position than we were at this stage leading into the Paris Olympic cycle.

“Maturity and winning when it matters was the mantra for the vintage of 2026. We’ve worked hard in developing and maturing our squad while developing the next generation of ‘Top Gun’ graduates.”

These four players will all return for pre-season training in October, ahead of an LA Olympics qualifying season.

But for now, Nathan, Nicholas and Terita have all agreed to take part in the inaugural Ultimate Sevens season in Europe. Meanwhile, Dennis is spending some time in Japan.
