World Rugby have announced Visa as a Principal Partner for the 2027 and 2029 Rugby World Cups in Australia, with the agreement also handing eligible cardholders priority access to tickets for the men’s tournament later this month.

Visa will serve as the Official Payment Technology Partner for both competitions, returning to the Rugby World Cup commercial programme ahead of the expanded 24-team men’s event in 2027 and the first Women’s Rugby World Cup to be staged in Australia two years later.

As part of the deal, eligible Visa cardholders will have access to a 48-hour priority ticket window from 12:00 AEST on September 28 until 12:00 AEST on September 30. Tickets for all 52 matches will be available during the sale, subject to availability, with supporters able to select seats through interactive stadium maps.

Any remaining tickets will then go on general sale from October 1, exactly one year before the opening match of the 2027 World Cup. The tournament will run from October 1 to November 13, with the field increasing from 20 to 24 teams.

Visa will also become presenting partner of the Player of the Match award across the two tournaments, while its payment technology will be used at official venues as World Rugby continue preparations for what they have billed as the biggest men’s Rugby World Cup to date.
