'What matters is that we improve': Brazil target progress at WXV Global Series Challenger

As Yaras head coach Guilherme Coghetto has confirmed his squad that will travel to Hong Kong China for the WXV Global Series Challenger.

The former assistant coach has included 11 players with Olympic Games experience, as well as 16 players who represented Brazil at last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.

Across three weeks, Brazil will play fixtures against Hong Kong China, the Netherlands and Spain. It will be the first time ever that As Yaras have played Hong Kong China, while they have taken on the Netherlands five times previously and Las Leonas once.

Guilherme Coghetto, Brazil head coach, said: “The tournament in Hong Kong is another important step in building the squad that will eventually aim to qualify for our second World Cup appearance. We are looking toward the team’s long-term development for the 2029 World Cup.

“The qualifiers are coming up next year, so we are in a crucial process of building our team and defining our style of play. We aren’t thinking about results; we’re thinking about the evolution of our game. That’s what really counts.

“We know we have a good chance of winning these matches, but the final score isn’t the most important thing. What matters is that we improve.”
