The small margins between the top four teams are such that even small changes in key personnel and attitude make a significant difference. So, yes little to choose between them, but enough to affect the outcome between games.

I’d be adding in a few other names that might have already been named if it wasnt for injury: Caleb Tangitau, Xavier Numia, Flanders and Jacob RTK.

Longer term there are some good names in the pipeline - Eli Oudenryn, Lucas Casey, Cooper Roberts and Oli Mathis

Most of those changes are sensible, but then again since SB took over England had played four games v Razor’s and lost all but the last narrowly.

So the first three suggest there was little to choose between the two teams, but the fourth indicates Eng have made more of a jump forward than the ABs.

There has been no discernable progress at Gloucester under Skivington.

They were incredibly poor in all areas yesterday, and the most worrying aspect was the body language from the players, the majority of whom looked bereft and simply lacking any idea of how to make things better.

Yeah and you are defintely not alone on that score. I guess I still believe that when its truly personal they lift their game (eg Eden Park), while external motivation - like a “grandslam” does not.

Yes agree - and as you suggest also some innovation is needed and the right mix of power - at key times. England has problem solved by a 5x7 strategy. For the ABs, having four lock flankers on the paddock at minute 45 would power up the scrum in a massive way and, given their skill set, mean that their ability to maraude like ABs of old is maximised. Mixing that with Ardie, Sititi, Lakai and or Parker further enhances that dynamic.

Agree a definite no to that. But the ABs going big should look and be different to the Boks. Mulitple 1.90m 130kg props and multiple 1.97-2m 120 kg highly mobile and versatile locks / flankers represents a different power platform than the Boks that should enable a combination of set piece power and mobility. At the moment they appear to have neither. But surely it is just a

matter of time before they find their mojo as a unit.

I had a look at the stats and it seems the same things played out.

Is the Argentina game a better measure of England’s defence - because for me what the stats show is the ABs were rudderless for large chunks of the game - with lots of ineffective time with the ball.

I don't blame you given the media drive for it. 2019 though? Now that is an interesting one! What made you so confident then?

Good shout on possession, its a bit flawed referring to the ABs, as they played a very different game, but terms of these two teams all the their ball was in part due to not being as lethal as England.
