Tony Brown to jump ship from Springboks to All Blacks

It's not jumping ship. It's called moving on, andin a very proper manner too. Tons of notice, obligations met, term served.

Upwards and onwards

Its not big news that a man is going to coach his home country in a couple of years. Wtf was he doing over there in the first place or more like, how did we not keep him at home.

Mike Blair is our attack Coach, him and his family have packed up and come down to the end of the earth for us and at a time when we were withering and I am right behind him, Tana and Dave Rennie, too. Its a distraction we dont need right now. A Blair in the hand beats 2 Browns in South Africa. All Blacks, all day. 😛

I wonder if the announcement of Tony’s appointment wasn’t a bit hasty?

Perhaps they should have made it on condition that he has a proven track record of winning a World Cup?

Imagine that? “We will take you on if you help the boks get a World Cup”.

Anyway. I am truly happy for all our kiwi friends. Who have had so much to cheer about over the past few months - without so much as a ball being kicked.

Based on recent evidence, NZ rugby dont waste time in firing the coach if they feel he has not performed. I wonder if Dave Rennie and his team will still be the AB coaches in 2028. Should things not go well for them in this year’s tour to SA and a bad showing at the world cup ( basically not winning it) and Rennie might be history. Might be a very different team TB is working with in 2028. Perhaps he gets his wish to work with Jamie Joseh after all. (Just a bit of wishfull thinking from a saffa)

Really? When did this change? Or is it Tony who’s changed his mind?

I guess this will give AB fans hope to cling on to if Rennie’s stint doesn’t live up to expectations.

Que Sera Sera. Believe it when you see it actually happen. A lot of water to flow under the bridge between then and now.

I have briefly met Tony and he was a really nice guy. I wish him. all the luck in the world as a fellow rugby person. I am sure he will be instrumental in the AB’s going forward. I am also sure Rassie knew about this a long time ago and is factoring that loss into his forward planning. It really is all about the greatest rivalry and respect between two dreaded foes. Long may the Greatest Rivalry in the sporting world last. The Ab’s will always be the yardstick of our success.
