Tom Curry finishes controversial year with place in RugbyPass' Top 100
RugbyPass have announced the latest 20 players in their Top 100 countdown, with Tom Curry ending a rollercoaster year on a high.
The Englishman’s year ended in controversy when he was alleged to have been involved in a tunnel bust-up with Argentina head coach Felipe Contepomi following the end of England’s 27-23 win against the Pumas in the Quilter Nations Series.
Contepomi claimed he had been shoved and told to “f*** off” by Curry in the tunnel, accusing the British and Irish Lions back rower of being a “bully”, and the Pumas lodged an official complaint.
However, a disciplinary hearing subsequenetly cleared both parties of any wrongdoing.
Curry battled through the pain of a wrist injury to start every game for England in the Guinness Six Nations and then came up trumps on the British and Irish Lions’ triumphant tour of Australia, scoring twice.
The flanker is joined on the celebrated Top 100 list by another newcomer who is no stranger to injury himself, Bath and England centre Ollie Lawrence.
The latest update reveals the players placed 40th to 11th and there are a number of big movers from last year, principally Wallabies centre Len Ikitau and All Blacks scrum-half Cam Roigard, both of whom enjoyed fantastic years.
