SVNS giants join Wallabies, Wallaroos in historic Sydney quadruple-header

The second Bledisloe Cup Test between the Wallabies and All Blacks will now form part of a historic quadruple-header in Sydney next month, with Rugby Australia revealing a first-of-its-kind slate of matches involving Australia’s four senior Teams in Gold.

Bledisloe Cup action returns to the Harbour City on October 17, with Accor Stadium hosting the second clash between the Wallabies and All Blacks, following a Test at Eden Park a week earlier.

It’d already been announced that the Wallaroos would play Scotland for the first time on Australian soil, which is also part of the WXV Global Series. But fans will now be treated to four international matches at family-friendly afternoon kick-off times.

The Australia Sevens teams will take the field at Accor Stadium between the Tests, with the HSBC SVNS Series men’s powerhouse Fiji and the Black Ferns Sevens taking part in these historic fixtures.

Reigning HSBC SVNS World Championship winners the Australia Women’s Sevens team will take on the New Zealanders at 2:25 pm AEST, four months after the fierce rivals met in a thrilling Bordeaux Cup Final.

“This is an historic moment for Australian Rugby with all four of our Teams In Gold competing on the same pitch, on the same day, on an unmissable occasion,” Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said.

“The day will showcase the very best of rugby with our elite male and female players across the XVs and Sevens formats taking on famous rivals from around the world in an unprecedented line-up of international rugby.

“We look forward to celebrating this extraordinary occasion with our great Australian Rugby community and we thank our friends from New Zealand Rugby, Fiji Rugby Union and Scottish Rugby for helping make this day a reality.”

The Wallaroos will be the first Australian team out on the field, with their match against Scotland scheduled for midday AEST. It’ll be the second time the Wallaroos have played at the venue.

Then, the Australia Men’s Sevens side will meet Fiji. Fiji finished second on the regular season standings last season, while the Aussies finished the SVNS World Championship strong, including title-winning heroics in Valladolid.

Following the latest instalment in the Australia-New Zealand sevens rivalry, the Bledisloe Cup Test will get underway at 3:45 pm AEST. The All Blacks secured a three-point win in the last meeting between the sides at Accor Stadium.

“Four national teams, one venue, and one huge day of rugby, this is a unique opportunity for fans to see the best of the game in one place,” Minister for Sport and Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper added.

“With the Rugby World Cup coming to Australia in 2027, events like this are building momentum and giving fans another reason to get excited.

“When fans travel to NSW, they stay in our hotels, eat at our restaurants and explore our cities and regions, that’s a big win for the visitor economy.”
