Sam Simmonds has ripped up the record books – his hat-trick against London Irish made him Premiership Rugby’s most prolific try-scorer in history.

The Exeter back-row has crossed the whitewash 15 times in just 13 club starts since his debut three seasons ago and it is clear to see why he has become a key part of Eddie Jones’ England side.

Simmonds averages a try every 76 minutes, 23 better than his nearest challenger Dominic Chapman, who scored 17 tries in 22 appearances for Richmond from 1997-99.

Sale Sharks winger Denny Solomona is unsurprisingly third on the list after excelling since switching from rugby league to union just over a year ago.

He has 21 tries in 28 games and averages one every 104 minutes, 15 better than current Wasps flyer Christian Wade.

Chris Ashton has the most tries in the top ten with 80 from 126 games and sits sixth on the list with a score every 122 minutes, the same as Josh Adams and ahead of Tony Underwood, Byron McGuigan and Rory Underwood.
