Now, that approach might gladden the heart of middle-aged men, such as myself, but do you honestly see that flying with these All Blacks?

I noticed in your post you said Razor started in 2016, I thought that too myself but when I had just checked the seasons their first win was in 2017 and I also thought Razor had won every season?

The 2016 team was practically identical, but agreed, the previous teams were even worse, which blows your theory out of the water. I think it’s far more intricate, as you are now finding looking at specifics like tightfive strength, than you want to believe (for whatever reason).

Even those who had worked with him at the Crusaders, which is very very interesting.

Giving your opinion that the coach is not doing an effective job is acceptable in a performance review.

Threatening to quit playing for the national team and play overseas if the coach is not fired is unacceptable and said player should be dropped.

This pervading notion that players having power is some sort of red flag in NZ is one of the most overblown things ever since Razor got fired. To act like this is simply the result of players just being selfish is preposterous. Let’s just remember, as much as we love the game of rugby, it’s still a sport which especially at the highest level, puts your body on the line and players nowadays are also far more aware of this than their predecessors. Of course the players are going to be respected more and look after themselves more now, whether it be capitalizing on bigger pay overseas while they are physically able to.

Regardless of this though, Razor didn’t lose his job due to this newfound player autonomy - if that were the case then any of these players being on losing teams would be getting a lot more coaches fired. Last I heard, Vern Cotter and Jamie Joseph weren’t exactly the most hugs and kisses coaches either and their squads (who feature a bunch of these players that have been accused as being primadonnas) haven’t led any sort of player revolt either.

If the NZ Herald was libel in the article that Savea threatened not to return from Japan if Razor was not fired then Savea would have filed a lawsuit against the Herald for libel, which clearly he has not done.

Because the article is true.

Love needs game time at 10 in Super Rugby is the ABs are to build depth there. He is a hard worker and thinker and has the makings (skills, brains and heart) of a special player if the opportunity is given. I also like Cameron but he could well be a closer with Love relieved or moving back to 15. As usual, Canes have backs talent to burn even with defections and injuries but how to use them while developing them is the tricky part.
