They’ve got lots of quality options in midfield. Freeman is there because they think by 2027 he might be one of the world’s best, not because there’s no-one else.

And how does the red card change things? Boks were pretty much in control and had their cards too. You focus on the cards, but forget that the Boks only recognised hooker was injured early in the match, which impacted them too.

Being in the harder side is preferable to the Boks. And not potentially. Boks beat France, England and NZ on the way to winning the WC

True and just as importantly no one is passive or being carried. They approach their tasks looking and expecting to dominate. The top three at the moment in terms of performance - SA, England and France - share that quality. This can be contrasted with both Ireland and the ABs at the moment who seem hesitant and lacking that confidence we ordinarily expect from them.

1 more point about 2021 and 2019 averages doesn’t really look regressive to me. 2019 wasn’t a great year though right when really pulled their bottom lip out at Schmidt? I remember them being a walk over at the WC.

I also remember them struggling to score at 2023 WC (the Samoa test when I first noticed their attacking regression), whether it easy beat pool games or against SA and NZ. Surely a well rounded side though.
