Is this “small upward trajectory” in the room with you now?

I think they were clearly a worse team in 2024 than 2023. Yes a lot of experienced forwards left, but I don’t think the pack dropped off at all, and actually got better in some areas like defensive line out, and the scrum was a weapon when Lomax was fit and firing. But they lost the ability to score tries.

I think the advantage Razor also had over Blackadder was that Blackadder oversaw that team during a transitional period where McCaw and Carter were playing less and less and Read was carrying the load. Also the strength in the All Blacks pack was a bit mixed then too - their regulars in the All Blacks pack before then were Franks, Whitelock, McCaw and Read with McCaw not really suiting up in red all that much - the rest of the All Black pack was a much more regular mix of players from various Super Rugby teams. Their backline’s always been blessed with great 10s though, but under Razor, it definitely started from a dominant pack that made the rest of the team look that much better. That and having a world breaker like Will Jordan at the back.

The non compete clause is obvious - intel. The Springboks could hire him as a consultant today just to get all the inside info out of him. It’s perfectly reasonable that he has a 12 month stand down period from coaching tier 1 teams that we will play in the next 12 months.

Exactly, and how bad were the Springboks from 2015 to 2018? It genuinely seemed like they were slipping down the pack permanently, 5 years later they were back to back world cup champs, and are easily the best team in the world right now.

If NZ rugby is in a right mess, then surely the recruitment of a new CEO, new head of performance, and a new head coach overseen by someone who is both an ex player and easily the accomplished corporate leader the organisation has ever had is a good place to start?

What would your place be for getting it out of serious trouble?

Bonjour le choix de repli….Je pense que la piste Ruru était plutôt un écran de com d’agent pour pousser la prolongation. Ce qui a été fait du reste.La Section n’a jamais fait part de son intérêt me semble-t-il ? Idem d’ailleurs pour tous les joueurs annoncés, mis à part les prolongations
