Is it possible that by extending the coaching team’s contracts that Sweeney, O’shea and the others in charge, have done so in order to gain a stay of execution on their time with their snouts in the trough?

As if they sacked Borthwick and RW it would essentially be an admission the decision to retain them after the worst six nations in English history is down to them and they would need to go as well.

This is the only justification i can think of as this decision goes against all logic.

If this all goes sideways in the autumn and we see another absolute disaster in the 6N then what?

The RFU finding all new levels of incompetence! I honestly despair with the ridiculous decisions they make to the detriment of the sport in England. Borthwick is being rewarded for abject failure and has achieved nothing tangible success in his tenure whilst also playing mind-numbingly boring rugby. Think I will save myself the misfortune and frustration of watching England until Borthwick and his tediously dull style of rugby are gone
