Quins sign Jack Grant as injury cover just days before Super Rugby
Harlequins have signed scrum-half Jack Grant as injury cover until the end of the season.
The 32-year-old joins from the New South Wales Waratahs, having missed out on the club’s squad with the new Super Rugby Pacific season set to commence this week.
The Yorkshire-born back, who was educated in Australia, will return to London for the second time in his career after a stint with Ealing Trailfinders in 2023.
With Will Porter out with a shoulder injury and Lucas Friday away with England U20 currently, Grant will provide cover at scrum-half during their PREM Rugby Cup campaign and the Gallagher PREM, which resumes in March.
Quins also have a Investec Champions Cup clash with Sale Sharks at the Stoop on the horizon in April.
“We’re pleased to welcome Jack into the group for the remainder of the season,” said Quins senior coach Jason Gilmore.
“With Will Porter sidelined for an extended period as he rehabilitates from a shoulder dislocation, and Lucas Friday away with England Under-20s, it’s important we have depth in a critical position.
“Jack is an experienced nine who will give us greater options and help share the workload across our scrum-halves during a busy run of fixtures.”
