Pedro Delgado wastes no time in signing new Quins deal
Argentina tighthead Pedro Delgado has signed a new deal with Harlequins just months after arriving at the club.
The 28-year-old signed for Quins last summer from Super Rugby Americas outfit Dogos XV and arrived at the Stoop in October following the Rugby Championship campaign with the Pumas.
Since arriving in London, the nine-cap international has made 12 appearances for Quins.
Delgado has followed the likes of Jack Kenningham, Chandler Cunningham-South and Oscar Beard in extending his deal at the club.
The Puma started in Quins’ away 27-17 victory over La Rochelle in the Investec Champions Cup, and will likely be pivotal in their round of 16 tie with Sale Sharks in April.
“I’m really happy to be staying at Harlequins. Everyone has been very welcoming to me since day one,” said Delgado.
“It’s incredible to be together with four Argentinians, especially to help me out with the language! We’re always together and helping each other out in different ways, which is great.
“I want to keep improving as a player and developing as a man, and my English! I want to be out on the pitch as much as possible and perform in a Harlequins shirt, and for the Pumas.”
Senior coach Jason Gilmore added: “Pedro is a powerful operator who has made a strong start to life here at Harlequins.
“He works hard at the set-piece to give us a solid platform to play from and continues to develop his scrummaging through close work with Adam Jones. Pedro also has the ability to make an impact in the loose on both sides of the ball, which is essential for a top-level tighthead.
“Pedro is a great person and a popular figure within the squad, and we’re delighted he has committed his future to the club.”
