Newcastle Red Bulls have signed Exeter Chiefs centre Will Rigg on a two-year deal ahead of next season, as reported by RugbyPass.

The 25-year-old is the third Chief who will be relocating north this summer, following his team-mates Rusi Tuima and Josh Hodge.

Rigg is in his second season at Sandy Park, having joined from Coventry in 2024, and has made 30 appearances to date.

The 105kg centre also becomes Newcastle’s 12th signing ahead of next season, as the rebuild at Kingston Park continues.

This has already been an eventful season for Rigg, who had a very brief spell with Cardiff as injury cover in October.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining what I feel is one of the most exciting projects in rugby at the moment,” he said.

“Speaking to the club and seeing the ambition and vision excited me greatly, and can’t wait to get stuck into things up there.”

Newcastle sporting general manager Neil McIlroy added: “Will has shown plenty of line-breaking ability during his time with Exeter, which will be a big asset for us as we look to build our game over the next few seasons.

“He’s a physical ball carrier with a good turn of pace, and I’m looking forward to seeing his continued progress within our environment.”

I hope Newcastle slow down now. They’ve made a lot of good signings, but it would be a shame to have to turf out all of their current team.
