Munster have announced that they plan to host one Investec Champions Cup pool fixture at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh next season, subject to GAA approval, if they qualify for the competition.

The former Heineken Cup winners are currently seventh in the URC table, with the top eight qualifying for the Champions Cup in 2026/27. Only four points cover the Lions in fifth and Connacht in ninth.

Earlier this season, Munster played their first Champions Cup fixture at Páirc Uí Chaoimh with 36,208 people turning out to see Clayton McMillan’s side get a bonus-point win over Gloucester. This was a record crowd for a Champions Cup game in Munster.

However, it was their only victory in the pool stages and they failed to progress through to the Round of 16. As the side that finished fifth, Munster dropped down into the Challenge Cup, where they face Exeter away in the Round of 16.

Prior to this season, previous Munster Rugby games at Páirc Uí Chaoimh were completely sold-out with attendances of over 40,000.

The 41,400 attendance for the Munster v South Africa A game in November 2022 was a record crowd for rugby in the province.
