I think his day is done. He has definitely lost a yard of pace so would really struggle as an international winger and quite bluntly he has never really impressed as a centre.

Yea they have earned their ranking. I am just debating the level of the team, I think what they showed in their end of year tour was not what a second best team in the world looks like. They have the potential to be the best in the world, no question about that.

We will see how the results go, very excited to see what Rennie does with the group!

Yeah he was certainly key in the system that managed to cover Irelands backline (and he might have been as big a weakness in the previous losses too, idk) but I think he would naturally favour closing space. Maybe he was aware of the man advantage and overly hesitant?

But yeah I can imagine he’s not the best at reading play and in those situations might prefer to hold back, which suits his ability as still having some decent pace for a center.

Yeah I accept a bit of hyperbole in there by me but I’ve never seen anyone suggest ABs sit at five in the World! That is incitement to violence! I think my fairer reflection is in another post. I accept that France are one of the toughest teams to beat at home and now only second to SA on that front. But ABs have played all comers home and away. I think they have earnt their ranking - which for better or worse takes that into account.

Ok I dont know enough about the French club scene and the SR forward performances are variable - so not helpful to my case. But the really confounding factor here is that France A does not travel South. Re Rennie, that is logical, and he is inheriting the forwards and the forward coach so the set piece should be okish and he will keep it simple. At the moment the Canes backline looks like the new ABs backline but with Clark and Jordan and Mckenzie on the bench. So should be okish too. So a little more optimistic. Again too bad French B coming but Ireland will be a great contest and genuine measure of the ABs.

Yep I’d love to see a LF RI midfield. Maybe internally there is something in his heart that even he doesn’t know is missing, but those passes, especially the flick back which none of these others can do, was very classy.

With what Ramos does at club and international level, there is absolutely no doubt he is the 15 in a World XV. Only some New Zealanders would put Will Jordan there but the smart ones recognise his weaknesses were well exposed there last year and he’s a better winger than fullback.

Yeah but I think the chat is getting a bit confused here. Certainly your point is right that in one particular style his development was hindered, but as to that style it is also a weakness (now, wasn’t so much back in the day if that’s your point, yes) as he can’t change his line and run to space anymore.

He is basically a very confused looking player out on the pitch most of the time lol
