Yes the comparison with Dan Carter is most strange, given that he doesn’t even play like him.

It was so much easier come onto the scene and dazzle back in his day, and defences didn’t normally need to worry about the 10. Carter played 12 as well and so wasn’t afraid to run through massive Lions holes. Is the comparison just due to Sascha being able to run through the best defenses, or is that weve just not had a first five hit the scene quite like Carter did before now?

what is the SA ‘B’ or ‘C’ team called ? the NZ ‘B’ team is the ‘ABs XV’, it says so on the jersey. There is no official NZ ‘C’ team but, often, the ‘NZ Maoris’ tour at the same time as the All Blacks and AB XV. What is the SA ‘C’ team called and when did they lose to Argentina ?

Interestingly only 2 players in saints young squad have ever been to a world cup and one of those was a late call up as an injury replacement for JVP the other is Italian. Might be a different story in 2 years time thou

Northampton were pretty good value today. They are probably the best attacking team in the Premiership and play some really nice free flowing rugby at the Gardens (their home stadium).

Saints were very impressive this weekend but one thing we don’t really discuss is the double threat that Henry Pollock creates in attack when playing with Fin Smith. He almost plays as an extra shadow 12 on the other side, to give Smith options on both sides and makes it a very high octane attack.

I do wonder if you would start Pollock at 8 when playing with Fin Smith, which is another dimension to consider in this Saints axis concept.

Id forgotten that Toulon lost last week! Knowing that, Bath do probably have a really good shot of winning the pool. I hope they can make the semis - they’re a good enough team to be competing on two fronts.

Inconsistency in refereeing is so frustrating. Forward pass in the build up to one of Toulon tries missed but similar (less forward pass) picked up in Northampton vs Bulls game. Similar instances of inconsistencies occurred all weekend over various games for different infringements. More needs to be done to address this at this level
