Italian rugby player Rebeca Braglia dies after head injury

Italian club Amatori Parma have announced the death of one of their players, Rebeca Braglia, on social media.

The 18-year-old reportedly died in hospital after suffering a head injury in a tackle during their game on Sunday.

It is understood that Braglia hit her neck on the ground where she lost consciousness and was taken to hospital shortly after, where she was placed in intensive care.

The team shared an update from Braglia’s father Giuliano, which when translated reads:

“Thank you all, now Rebecca is in the father’s house and pray for everyone who was close to her with prayer.”

Italian national team captain Sergio Parisse also offered his condolences, sending a heartfelt tweet.

Parisse’s tweet translates to: “Dear Rebecca… I am deeply grieved… I hold tight to your family. Rest in peace.”
