Georgians roar, Eagles soar and Lobos tear into Asian heavyweights

With the Rugby World Cup draw approaching, Georgia, Portugal, and the United States all claimed precious wins, with the Lelos showing their best colours in a 38-17 thumping of Canada.

In the opening game of the third weekend of Autumn Internationals, Georgia secured a 38-17 victory over Canada with Shalva Aptsiauri stealing the show as the wing recorded a hat-trick.

Aptsiauri’s first came eight minutes in, evading several tacklers to reach the try-line.

Canada responded by settling for three points as Peter Nelson converted a penalty.

Georgia’s pressure soon told again, with Demur Tapladze and Aptsiauri diving into the corner to give their side a comfortable 17-point lead at halftime.

Richard Cockerill’s men pressed on, adding further tries through Aptsiauri and Giorgi Kveseladze before the 55-minute mark, both converted by Tedo Abzhandadze.

Canada’s bright moment came when Brock Gallagher finished after a sharp break from wing Nic Benn.
Both sides added a final try, through flankers Tornike Jalagonia and Sion Parry, the latter scoring shortly after returning from the sin bin.

Georgia will conclude their 2025 Test season against Japan next week, welcoming Eddie Jones’s side to Tbilisi’s Mikheil Meskhi Stadium.

Lobos masterclass
Portugal bounced back from a disheartening loss to Uruguay, trampling Hong Kong China 58-12 at Estádio Nacional do Jamor.

The Lobos built a rapid 19-point lead with tries from Luka Begic, Simão Bento, and Rodrigo Marta, while Nuno Sousa Guedes added two conversions.

Despite struggling for territory, Hong Kong China enjoyed a positive spell before halftime, scoring through Sunia Fameitau and Guy Spanton.

Guedes extended Portugal’s advantage with a penalty, giving the hosts a 10-point cushion at the interval.
The second half was one-way traffic as Portugal controlled every facet. Marta grabbed his second, followed by Raffaele Storti, Martim Bello, Vasco Baptista, Manuel Vareiro, and Nicolás Martins, with Guedes adding five conversions.

Portugal now face a Canadian side still searching for their first victory, while Hong Kong China conclude their Test season.

Eagles in complete control in Bucharest
The Eagles edged Romania 26-18 at the Arcul de Triumf, claiming their first win of the Autumn window.
Both sides were cagey early, trading penalty goals through Luke Carty and Alin Conache, with the USA fly-half landing two.

The first try arrived when Cory Daniel muscled through the Romanian defence to extend the USA’s lead.
Romania hit back immediately, with powerful wing Tevita Manumua outmuscling Mark O’Keeffe to give the hosts hope.

Carty stemmed the momentum with another penalty before halftime.

The Eagles frustrated Romania throughout the second half, shutting down attacks and grabbing six turnovers. Rufus McLean then finished a sweeping move 22 minutes from time, with De Haas converting.

Carty added another penalty late on before Cristi Chiric? scored a consolation try at the death.

Romania now turn to Uruguay in their final match of 2025, while the USA head home buoyed by a win after heavy defeats to Scotland and Georgia.
