Former Gloucester lock Tom Savage is coming home to the UK after signing for Worcester Warriors ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season.

Savage, who captained Gloucester when only 24 years of age, will help fill the leadership void left by the retirement of Matt Rogerson.

The 37-year-old made nearly 200 appearances for the Cherry & Whites over a decade’s worth of service to the club, before heading overseas, in Japan and latterly New Zealand.

After nine seasons at Kingsholm, Savage departed Gloucester in 2019 and headed to Japan, where he spent four seasons in the Japanese Top League playing for Suntory Sungoliath.

From Japan, Savage then headed to Super Rugby, where he’s spent the past three years playing for Moana Pasifika, clocking up 35 games for the franchise team.

While in New Zealand, Savage also represented North Harbour in the country’s National Provincial Championship, a side he captained last season.

From the conversations I’ve had with Matt Everard, it’s clear there’s something special building here. I can’t wait to get stuck in, connect with the players and coaches, and contribute to a team that has already achieved so much this season.

It’s also exciting to be returning to the UK after seven years playing overseas. I’m looking forward to experiencing the rugby culture here again and sharing that journey with my family.”

Warriors Head Coach Matt Everard added, “I’m really excited by the signing of Tom Savage for next season.

As a person, Tom is someone who drives high performance and togetherness from his teammates.

As a player, Tom brings a huge amount of experience & leadership. Having made nearly 200 appearances for Gloucester and playing the last two seasons in Super Rugby, we are very excited to see Tom pull on a Worcester shirt.”
