Leicester Tigers have lost a second youngster to Pro D2 outfit Béziers next season, with back rower Monty Loggenberg set to sign up for a move to the club that his father Saul co-owns.

Loggenberg senior was a key member of the investor group that took control of Béziers in November 2024 alongside All Black Andrew Mehrtens and former Springbok Bob Skinstad.

Béziers, who have former England assistant Rory Teague returning as head coach next season, already have his younger brother, Hugo, a 17-year-old fly-half who was signed from the leading South African public school, Wynberg Boys’ High School, in their academy.

Teague has been busy rebuilding his squad for next season, releasing 18 players and bringing in nine, including Malakai Fekitoa and MacKenzie Martin, as well as another player from the Tigers, prop Tubuna Maka, who can play both sides of the scrum.

Wythenshawe-born Loggenberg joined the Tigers two years ago and was sent out on loan to Loughborough University for experience. He has also played on loan in the Champ this season for Chinnor and bottom-of-the-table Cambridge.

Loggenberg made two PREM Rugby Cup appearances for the Tigers against Harlequins and Newcastle Red Bulls this season, and will be joining Béziers, who hammered Biarritz 43-17 on Friday night, when his contract runs out in July.

It is understood that next season, Béziers will be operating with a smaller squad that will see their academy players integrated into the first team, which should give the likes of the Loggenberg brothers a chance to catch the eye.
