Cloé Correa and Ambre Mwayembe learn fates after red cards against Australia

France’s Cloé Correa and Ambre Mwayembe have learned their fates after receiving red cards in their team’s 29-26 win over Australia.

Both players received red cards in Aix-en-Provence in the first half of the WXV Global Series 2026 fixture. At one stage of the match, France were reduced to 11 players.

Loosehead prop Mwayembe accepted that she had committed an act of foul play and that a red card was warranted. She made a dangerous tackle in which she made head contact with an Australian player.

The Foul Play Review Committee found that a mid-range entry point was appropriate and awarded 50% mitigation. The 22-year-old has been banned for three matches, but will see that reduced by one upon successfully completing the coaching intervention programme.

At present, the prop will miss this weekend’s Test against Canada in La Rochelle, as well as tour fixtures against the Black Ferns in New Zealand.

Correa, who received a permanent red card for making eye contact with an opponent, has been banned for two matches. The Foul Play Review Committee found that there was contact with the eye, but that it was not direct or deliberate.

The committee found that a low-end entry point was appropriate, and Correa was also awarded 50% mitigation after she accepted that an act of foul play had occurred.

The lock forward will miss this weekend’s game against Canada and their first Test against the Black Ferns next month. Correa’s ban will stretch François Ratier’s options at lock even further, especially with the absence of team captain Manae Feleu and Madoussou Fall Raclot.

South Africa lock Danelle Lochner, who received a red card for a dangerous tackle, will take part in a full disciplinary hearing, which is taking place on Tuesday, 22 September. The lock forward was sent off in the 35th minute after an upgrade by the Foul Play Review Officer.
