Bulls player ratings vs Stade Francais | 2026/27 Investec Champions Cup
Bulls player ratings: The Bulls didn’t just beat Stade Francais in Pretoria, they steamrolled them, racking up seven tries in a 56-20 Investec Champions Cup dismantling that left the visitors chasing shadows for long stretches.
Handre Pollard pulled the strings, Cheswill Jooste ran riot out wide, and the Bulls pack spent much of the afternoon imposing themselves on a Stade side that looked both disinterested and in disarray at times.
15. Luan Giliomee – 7
The Bulls big signing was had a relatively quiet afternoon compared to some of the fireworks around him, but was assured under the high ball and gave the Bulls a calm presence at the back whenever Stade threatened to build momentum.
14. Sebastian de Klerk – 6.5
Didn’t get the headline moments that came Jooste’s way on the opposite flank but worked hard throughout and offered a reliable finishing option whenever Pollard shifted the point of attack wide. Guilty of a couple of turnovers lost.
13. Sango Xamlashe – 8
A classy outing in midfield. Won two turnovers, carried with intent and consistently got the Bulls over the gainline. Asked plenty of questions of Alivereti Duguivalu and looked comfortable in both attack and defence.
12. Harold Vorster – 7.5
The experienced campaigner brought plenty of directness and organisation to the midfield effort, doling out some thunderous contacts on both sides of the ball. Did the hard, unseen work and helped create space for those outside him.
11. Cheswill Jooste – 9
A nightmare matchup for Stade Francais. Opened the scoring after barely a minute and returned for a late try double to put the seal on things. Three tries, six line breaks and six defenders beaten tell part of the story. Every time he touched the ball there was a sense of impending brainrot in the Stade defensive system. Stade simply couldn’t contain him. Electric.
10. Handre Pollard – 8.5
Seven conversions from seven attempts and complete authority over proceedings. The World Cup winner’s game management was immaculate, his kicking game territorial and his distribution sharp. Stade never looked comfortable when Pollard was asking the questions. A reminder that class remains permanent.
9. Paul de Wet – 7.5
Moved the ball efficiently and ensured the Bulls played at the tempo they wanted. Kept Stade’s forwards honest around the fringes and provided a smooth link between pack and backs.
8. Cameron Hanekom – 8
Another powerhouse display from the No.8. Grabbed the Bulls’ third try just before half-time and carried relentlessly. Stade struggled to stop him once he built a head of steam and he remained influential throughout the contest.
7. Elrigh Louw – 8
The captain led from the front. Topped the tackle charts for the Bulls with 10 completed and brought plenty of customary edge to the collision area. The sort of performance that set the emotional tone for the home side, even if a couple of penalties blotted the copybook.
6. Marco van Staden – 8.5
Typically industrious and got the reward his work deserved with a try early in the second half. Around the breakdown he was a constant nuisance and Stade never found much comfort with him operating in their vicinity.
5. JF van Heerden – 7
A solid shift in the second row. Added physicality around the park, got through plenty of unseen graft and helped the Bulls establish a platform that gradually squeezed the life out of Stade’s challenge.
4. Cobus Wiese – 8
One of the Bulls’ most influential forwards. Scored after 16 minutes and carried with real venom throughout. Jacques Botha found him a difficult man to handle physically and Wiese repeatedly won the gainline battle.
3. Khutha Mchunu – 7
A strong afternoon in the tight exchanges. Stood up well against Thomas Bue and contributed to a set-piece effort that largely gave the Bulls front-foot ball. A couple of missed tackles against his name.
2. Jan-Hendrik Wessels – 8
Finished the day with a 67th-minute try and was prominent around the park. The hulking Bok hooker continues to look menacing.
1. Alu Tshakweni – 7
Got through a mountain of tight work and helped lay the platform for the Bulls’ dominance up front. Had the better of several exchanges against Mose Alo-Emile and was part of a front row that generally controlled matters.
Replacements – 8
A real impact shift from the bench. Jeandre Rudolph was outstanding after arriving, crashing over for a try and injecting fresh energy into the contest. Johan Grobbelaar, Gerhard Steenekamp, Francois Klopper and Jaco Grobbelaar all maintained the Bulls’ physical standards, while Embrose Papier increased the tempo when legs started to tire. Wily veteran Willie Le Roux also provided two try assists after coming on at 52 minutes.
