I hope I’ve done the book justice by characterizing it the way I have. The overall tone is elegiac for that golden generation of Irish players who were good enough to do it. Without trying to put words in his mouth, I doubt that Bren would see the same opportunity in 2027, tho getting to a semi wouod be a form of consolation…

Unless like the article says and all it does is give the clubs a reprieve (the 3 weeks played without Internationals), and not the International players?

Remember, it’s LNR/FFRs responsibility to think about all internationals, not just their own/France’s, moving forward.

I’m not sure I would lay any blame at the longer travel, these “trends” have of course existed for a while now.

I’m not sure why I’m always the one coming to the defence of the Top 14 (I don’t even watch it) but I have already suggested they just remove their finals series and make a better comp by going top-of-the-table.

Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s kicking statistics (club & country combined) over the past three years (2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons) is 85%.

His goal-kicking success rate was 86.4% across the four matches of the Autumn Nations Series in November 2025. He successfully converted 18 out of his 21 total attempts at goal (conversions and penalties combined).

Really interesting player Mika. Not the tradition (modern traditional) new 10 like a Sacha in terms of skill set, but a guy that looks like a educated journeymen.

Will he miss out due to a lack of talent, or will he go on to develop and master the role even more? Looking forward to seeing him in action next year. Big year.

The article (Biggar?) does a really poor job at reporting what the changes are that have made it different this year.

To me its the amount of space and much bigger advantage from regathering that England has unlocked (that they never used before). A very big difference to what I think your’e referring to.

I don’t remember doing that HH. I do remember bemoaning SA for playing boring rugby when they could be doing so much better though!

It was present around 2019 I agree, but I think it went away.

“Kicking ‘for a purpose’ versus kicking ‘to get rid of it’ separated contenders from pretenders.

Theyre the same thing, just those trying to get rid of it now have more purpose. Though if he was to say sides like NZ have neglected their running game to adopt a contestable approach, then yes that would make sense.
