France Men’s Sevens head coach Benoit Baby has selected 10 of the players that finished fourth in Cape Town for the upcoming HSBC SVNS Series leg in Singapore.

This has allowed Enzo Benmegal, Nelson Epée, William Iraguha and Paul Leraître to join the 14-player squad. The side have been placed in Pool B with Argentina, Australia and New Zealand.

Already two rounds in, France’s season can be categorised by their struggles on Day 2. Graduating from pool play among the top two teams, France are yet to experience victory on the second day of competition.

Those consecutive third-place final losses to Fiji mean that the squad are placed fourth in the overall standings. Nearly two months on from their last outing the side have reintroduced sprint coach, Guy Ontanon, to the programme to add an extra dimension to their training regime.

A side less than two years removed from winning HSBS SVNS outright, the experience possessed by the squad – with the likes of Stephen Parez-Edo Martin and Paulin Riva amongst its ranks – will allow the team to turn a corner sooner rather than later.
