The 30-year-old shared a photo on Instagram on Saturday alongside her partner, former men’s sevens skipper Lewis Holland, with the caption “Mum and dad”, and a video of the two-time World Rugby Women’s Sevens Player of the Year telling her teammates the news.

A number of teammates and adversaries from over the years have since shared their congratulations about the news.

Maddison Levi wrote “sobbinnggg, best news”, Teagan Levi said that the news was “so exciting” and Ireland wing Amee Leigh Costigan called it “amazing news”.

Since making her Australia Sevens debut in 2013, Caslick has become the most decorated sevens player in the country’s history alongside Sharni Smale (nee Williams).

Her personal medal haul contains an Olympic gold medal from 2016, a Commonwealth Games gold from 2022, a 2018 Commonwealth Games silver and a Rugby Sevens World Cup from 2022.

Caslick had not made an appearance on the HSBC SVNS Series this season with a persistent calf issue. She also missed the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup after she failed to recover from ankle surgery.

Last month the 30-year-old had revealed to rugby.com.au‘s Nathan Williamson that she intends to play at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and that she aims to feature at the 2029 Women’s Rugby World Cup on home soil.

She said: “I definitely want to still be around for the next Olympics. Obviously, missing out the World Cup last year, I think I’ll try and stay around for the ’29 World Cup, especially being at home. I think it’ll be a great place to end my career.”

Following the announcement, Caslick will continue in a backseat role within the Australia Sevens programme and instead will be content in her supporting role as the next generation tear it up on the turf.

“I’ve been loving it,” she said. “I think even at training, trying to give them as much guidance and mentor them as best I can has been really fun and something different.

“At the end of my career, (it’s) something that I would love to move in towards, so I’ve been really enjoying watching how hard they train and then seeing the work that they do at training come out onto the field.”
