Megan Jones Bio

Born 23 October 1996 to an English mother and Welsh father, Jones was educated at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf and began her rugby career at Glamorgan Wanderers at the age of six.

At the age of 16, she moved to England and studied Sports Science and Management. She also furthered her rugby development at Hartpury College.

Megan Jones started her career at Bristol Bears Ladies, where she stayed until 2020. Since then, she has represented some of England’s top clubs, including Wasps Ladies (2020-23) and Leicester Tigers (2023-25). Ahead of the 2025-26 season, Jones announced that she had signed for Trailfinders Women

Although she’s enjoyed a great amount of success on the domestic scene, Megan Jones has saved her best performances for the international stage.

Jones made her England debut in 2015, when she played against New Zealand in the Rugby Super Series. Following this, she travelled to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as a non-playing reserve for Team GB.

Then, in 2017, she was named in the England squad for the 2017 Women's Rugby World Cup. She played an integral role during the tournament and even started in the final.

However, towards the end of 2017, Jones joined the England Sevens programme full time. She then won a bronze medal with the team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Since then, she has played both XV-a-side rugby and rugby sevens, representing England in the Six Nations and the Rugby World Cup. She’s also represented Team GB at the European Games and the Olympics. In 2025, she was once again named in her country’s squad for the Rugby World Cup.

Jones was a standout performer at the 2025 Rugby World Cup, starting all six of England’s matches, scoring three tries, and earning praise for her defensive grit and attacking flair. Her performances saw her named in the Team of the Tournament and shortlisted for World Rugby’s Women’s Player of the Year.

Still very much at the peak of her powers, we can’t wait to see what else Megan Jones can achieve in the sport.
